
Fish oil for kids should be part of their everyday routine, the reason being is that all of us need omega3. Unfortunately there is a big deficiency of it in our diet now, and if adults are lacking in it then it is a certainty there is an omega3 for kids shortage as well. But why is fish oil for kids so important?
Now, there are lots of reasons why increasing the omega 3 for kids is important, but one of the main reasons is their brain development. It is now known a large proportion of the brain actually consists of DHA fat, and with this being an essential fats our bodies don't produce any more of it so we have to get into our diets, and if there's not enough in the diets of one of the problems it can cause this learning difficulties.
What research has found is that the DHA fat acts like a membrane between the individual brain cells; when neurons transmit from cell to cell they pass through this membrane. If there is not sufficient DHA fat, the body substitutes it with another fat known as DPA, this is not as flexible and therefore the neurons cannot pass through as easily. It is now believed that because of the lack of fish oil in our diets, their is too much of the wrong types of fats in their brains which is influences behavior. To prove this researchers carried out experiments and it was found that children that start taking fish oil supplements compared to children taking placebos actually had an improvement in both behavior and learning.
Fish oil for kids helps more than just their brains, this essential fat is also found in the eyes as well so by increasing the amount they have helps to maintain the developments of their eyes. It is also known that children who have good levels of DHA fats are less likely to have asthma and allergies as well. But on top of that it is a good habit to get them into anyway, because as they get older if they are consistently taking fish oil then it is going to help protect them from conditions such as heart disease and chronic inflammation.
The reason it has to be specifically fish oil for kids, and adults as well come to that, is because this is the only omega 3 that contains the DHA fat. A lot of the foods that you see on the supermarket shelf that say they contain omega three actually contain another fat which is ALA, and while this is still good for you it has nowhere near the benefits of the DHA fat. Without a shadow of a doubt though supplements are the best way to do this, reason being is because they can be taken on a daily basis and if you get the right kind you will not be getting any of the pollutants that you would have if you were consuming oily fish daily.
